Reading Recovery Teacher- Sally CohenI am very excited to begin my journey as a Reading Recovery Teacher with the wonderful team at Golden Horn Elementary School. I have been living and teaching in the Yukon for 4 years, and am happy to call it my home. I was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, and have also lived and taught in Australia and South Korea. When I am not at school you'll find me reading, hiking, running, and spending time with my family.

What is Reading Recovery? |
Reading Recovery is a highly effective short-term intervention of one-to-one tutoring for first grade students. The intervention is most effect when it is available to all students who need it and is used as a supplement to good classroom teaching.
Reading Recovery serves first grade students who need assistance with discovering the complex set of concepts that make reading and writing possible. |
Individual students receive a half-hour lesson each school day for 12 to 20 weeks with a specially trained Reading Recovery teacher. As soon as students can meet grade-level expectations and demonstrate that they can continue to work independently in the classroom, their lessons are discontinued, and new students in grade one begin individual instruction.
